Our tale
Our tale (yep, pun intended) all began a few years ago with one sweet lil' baby polar bear (Golden Retriever) Sterlo and his dad, the Coast's fave vet.
But even before that, over 25 years ago, with a passion to want to help. Dr John, the Coast's most beloved vet, was just seeing too many dogs in his clinic with allergies. Literally hundreds a week. He wanted to change that with Buff Paws - an elimination diet that uses single proteins buffalo, crocodile and venison - specifically designed to be tolerated by the intolerable mutt bellies of the world. He spent a long time researching and working with specialists in his field to come up with a dog food that truly makes a difference.

Take the Coast's fave vet who sees hundreds of dogs suffering in his clinic every single week. His own strikingly handsome mutt, Sterlo, with a belly that doesn't tolerate much of anything at all. Add a whole bunch of passion to want to make a difference. A good dose of heart and soul. Tests. Science. Brainstorming. Messy kitchens. Loads and loads of paw testers. And many road bumps along the way. We're for the bellies not built for chicken. For dogs who suffer in silence. And we're here to change all that one itch, one sensitive belly at a time.

Dr John
Vet. Founder. Dog lover.
Doc John - the man behind us (well, no not literally) but he's the brains. And the brawn. A small animal vet for more than 26 years, who graduated with first class honours, he's also a qualified vet acupuncturist and has always had a passion for helping the paws of our world. Awarded the Coast's Top Vet four years in a row, he's managed to build a cult following of friendies - both human and fur - who deeply trust his opinion. He's a humble bloke who never likes the fuss but we're happy to heap it upon him. Few have dedicated their lives to the hard slog of 80-hour weeks for over 15 years and still manage a smile.

THE OG MUTT
Sterlo
Equal parts Golden Retriever and polar bear. Often mistaken as human. Sterlo is our two-year-old trusty mutt who is the purpose behind our brand. This mutt takes loving to a new level and is one of the bestest pups you'll ever meet. Calm from the get go. Smart (for a golden). Athletic (if by athletic, you mean an inability to jump in the car) he can't run a marathon and doesn't retrieve much at all but will give zoomies a red hot go given half the chance. He started his life with intolerances for pretty much everything and has consumed the odd fish hook of a stray fishing line when his mum wasn't watching. He loves his fam, friends, literally ANY pup within a tale wag's distance and his fave thing to do is soak up the arvo sun on his belly.
